In Studio | Live Stream | Virtual
an
Explanation
IN STUDIO classes will be held at the LDA studios in Ossining. The class sizes are restricted to the guidelines presented by Gov. Cuomo. Students who indicate that they want their classes to be In Studio will be placed in the available spots on a first registered, first placed basis. Students who want In Studio classes but who are not given a spot in a desired class can be enrolled in the class, but take the Live Stream class until the class size restrictions are removed. The students who are enrolled in the Live Stream classes are guaranteed a spot in the Studio class once the restrictions removed. Spots in the Live Stream of a class are given on a first registered, first served basis (limited by the normal full size of the class)
LIVE STREAM classes are broadcasts of the classes that are being held at the studio at the time they are happening (kind of like what you see on the monitor in the waiting room at LDA, except better quality). The link to Live Stream broadcasts will only be given to the students who have enrolled in that class. A student can enroll in a class, but choose to take that class via Live Stream. Also, if a student enrolls in a class that is full for In Studio participation, they will be given the link for the Live Stream broadcast to take that class at home.
When conditions regarding the pandemic improve and we are allowed to increase the size of the classes, the student could then choose to come to the studio for classes since they are enrolled - a spot for them in that increased size class will have been reserved for them when they enrolled. Keep in mind that in Live Stream classes the teacher cannot see the students who are taking the class from home, it is more like taking the class on a monitor except of higher quality.
Note: if a student enrolls in a class at LDA and chooses to take the class via Live Stream, there may not be a spot in the Studio class for them until the restrictions are lifted and LDA can return to the full number of students in a class. A student who enrolls in a class will have their spot reserved for them and when LDA is allowed to return to full attendance numbers, the student can choose to attend the studio class or continue with Live Stream class until they are personally comfortable with a return to in person class attendance.
ALSO NOTE: Students who enroll in Live Stream classes will be welcome to take any appropriate level Virtual Classes in the dance discipline that they enrolled in FREE OF CHARGE - giving them the benefit of being enrolled and the benefit of Virtual Classes.
VIRTUAL Classes are very different from the Live Stream broadcasts of the In Studio classes. In Virtual Classes, the teacher can see the students, so individual corrections and feedback can be given and students can interact with the teacher. We don't yet know what classes will be offered as Virtual Classes (except for Theater Dance). No other Virtual Classes have been scheduled yet. Those classes will be created when LDA determines that there are a sufficient number of students who would like to enroll in the Virtual Class. There may be no additional Virtual Classes, we just don't know if there will be sufficient interest yet.
Students who DO enroll in a class at LDA but choose to take the class at home via the Live Stream broadcast will be welcome to take the Virtual Classes that exist at no extra charge.
Students who do not enroll in an In Studio or Live Stream class at LDA, but who choose to do only the Virtual Class can later decide to enroll for the In Studio class at any time as long as there is a spot in the class for them (but no spot will have been reserved for them).
Livestream and Virtual Class Students: We recommend you download Zoom for your mobile device or computer before your first class. You will not need to create a Zoom login and you will not need to pay for a Zoom account. Your streaming link will be emailed to you by LDAphone@gmail.com so please add it to your contact list or safe senders list or check your spam.
So . . . a student can choose to enroll and take the class at home via Live Stream and then change to In Studio class when the classes are allowed to increase in size. And if there is a Virtual Class that is comparable to their class, they can take those free of charge in addition to or in place of the Live Stream class.
The choice is up to you.
We know this is complicated with these two new digital options being involved this season. We hope this explanation is clear and is also helpful
